Pushing Daisies: Bryan Fuller Hopes To Relaunch in 2008-2009 Season
Speaking with the people at the Comic Podcast Network, Bryan Fuller has confirmed the show will regroup sometime June this year, when production is expected to begin for Pushing Daisies Season 2. Assuming that the strike is over and assuming they have to return immediately and deliver four to five episode, it wouldn’t be wise business practice. As it is, the show’s time slot is up against American Idol, which people seem to have to never gotten tired of yet (it’s winning against every show at the ratings!). And rather than delivering a show that is hurriedly done just to finish the remainder of the season, Fuller hopes to deliver a better show by Fall.
He also shares that viewers should be expect more from the Aunts in upcoming stories, as the show will explore their past and we should be seeing a lot of interesting guest characters and some of them may have already appeared before. A possible love angle may also happen for the Aunts.
He expressed admiration for Kristin Chenoweth, who suffered broken ribs while doing her episode (Girth), but she remained a real pro and kept a good work ethic.
Next season, Chi McBride’s character’s fascination for pop-up books will also be opened more, as Emerson considers some sort of career in it.
One good thing this strike has brought to this show was that the cast members seem to have grown closer with each other, with frequent gatherings at Fuller’s house. They had a Christmas party and watched the last two episodes together, according to him. Well, cast chemistry is the least of Pushing Daisies’ problem alright, but there’s always room for more improvements.
The podcast interview will have a second part next week.
