Pushing Daisies: Critics Say it is Number 1 show for 2007

by

bitches1.gifTelevisionWeek conducts a survey among critics twice a year, to determine which TV series they think tops the rankings. And wouldn’t you know it, freshman series Pushing Daisies has emerged as the Number One show. One critic notes, the show is “sweet without making your teeth hurt, smart without making your head hurt; this one’s actually living up to the promise of its pilot.” (Ellen Gray, Philadephia Daily News) | TV Week.

The poll covers shows from Summer and Fall of 2007.

And joining Pushing Daisies in on the Critics’ Best List are Mad Men from AMC in second place (it continues to impress viewers despite its cable-centered audience); and Dexter in third place (and it also made it to last year’s list). Other picks are as follows:

4. 30 Rock
5. Friday Night Lights
6. Damages
7. House
8. The Office (tie)
8. Ugly Betty (tie)
10. Californication
11. Desperate Housewives
11. Grey’s Anatomy

The group has also compiled its Ten Worst TV shows. The complete list may be checked here.

About Pushing Daisies

As its teasers say, Pushing Daisies is "nothing like you've seen on television". Besides being visually stimulating and audibly captivating, the story behind this whimsical TV series from ABC, is one that seems to jump out pages of a fairy tale. Created by Bryan Fuller, Pushing Daisies is hailed by critics as a commendable risk that may actually pay off. It has romance, tragedy, comedy, mystery and of course, lest we forget, pies…lots and lots of it.
