Pushing Daisies: No Show at the Golden Globes?
I usually start the week rounding up previous week’s news on Pushing Daisies. But since the show is already on forced hiatus on account of the writers’ strike, we are getting very little updates about our beloved series. With the current scenario, even the Golden Globes awards, in which Pushing Daisies, as well as Lee Pace and Anna Friel are nominated, may even have to proceed without a telecast. The actors have agreed to skip the Golden Globes if it’s going on broadcast. Meaning, if you’re expecting big stars to grace the event, if you’re expecting to see Lee, Anna, Chi, Kristin and the rest of the cast, well…it ain’t happening.
As reported here, Screen Actors Guild (SAG) President Alan Rosenberg have said — “there appears to be unanimous agreement that these actors will not cross WGA picket lines to appear on the Golden Globe Awards as acceptors or presenters” Even talent publicity firms have expressed the same, saying that their clients won’t be going to the ceremony. Without the presenters, nominees and winners, there is no show, since this event is all about them.
Are you bummed about that? I am a bit. Since if Pushing Daisies or one of its actors would win any of the awards in their nominated categories, we would’ve missed their chance to hear or watch their acceptance speech. That may sound like a pretty shallow reason but I’m also about milestones, histories and records, and this would have to go down on theirs.
Anyway, NBC is steadfast in saying there will still be a telecast, even as the Golden Globes under HFPA is requesting for a private ceremony.
Let’s wait and watch…
