Pushing Daisies Ratings and Reactions to Season Premiere

Would you care to know how Pushing Daisies fared after its season premiere last week?

First, some viewer reactions:
Film Fodder breaks it down to The Good and The Not So Good.
SyFy Portal says it worked, except for the narrator whose purpose got a bit distracting.
Yale Daily believes that its strong original content will push bounderies of comedy.
411Mania says it lives up to the hype and pedigree.
TV with Meevee calls the show its “pet of the season” and encourages the rest to fall in love with it.

So, how did it actually do in the ratings? Well, it looked really good for Pushing Daisies last week. The very first episode has met its expected success because it impressively ranked second over-all for Wednesday night.

4. “Private Practice” (ABC) 12.29m
5. “Deal or No Deal” (NBC) 11.07m

7. “Dirty Sexy Money” (ABC) 9.73m
8. “Life” (NBC) 8.80m
9. “Kid Nation” (CBS) 7.51m
10. “Back to You” (FOX) 6.58m
11. “Kitchen Nightmares” (FOX) 6.29m
12. “Til Death” (FOX) 6.22m
13. “America’s Next Model” (CW) 4.52m
14. “Gossip Girl” (CW) 2.80m

It gets even better. Prior to its showing, there was apprehension whether or not it can beat top-rater Deal or No Deal in its time-slot and surprise! surprise! Pushing Daisies delivered with 12.83 Million viewers against Deal or No Deal’s 11.07 Million. Whoohoo!

The real test though, should come in the following episodes, or whether or not the show can sustain its lead week after week.

Besides being visually stimulating and audibly captivating, the story behind this whimsical TV series from ABC, is one that seems to jump out pages of a fairy tale. Created by Bryan Fuller, Pushing Daisies is hailed by critics as a commendable risk that may actually pay off. It has romance, tragedy, comedy, mystery and of course, lest we forget, pies…lots and lots of it.
