After coming out strong in its season premiere in the UK, Pushing Daisies’ ratings has continue to drop week after week. The program has now aired at least four episodes in that part of the world.

However, industry observes say, the show’s performance overseas, with about 4 Million viewers weekly, is still up to par based on US TV import standards.

Yet, there are some expectations this show would be widely received since it features UK’s very own Anna Friel.

Here’s the rating report from last week via The Guardian:

Viewers are losing interest in ITV1’s big US import Pushing Daisies, with the third outing on Saturday April 26 down nearly 2 million on its debut.

The drama, starring Anna Friel as a woman brought back from the dead, attracted an average of 3.8 million viewers and an 18% share in the hour from 9.05pm. This was down from 4.7 million the previous week and the peak of 5.7 million who tuned in for the debut on April 12.

Pushing Daisies was up against Casualty on BBC1, which drew 6 million viewers and a 27% share from 8.55pm to 9.45pm. The hospital drama was followed by comedy Love Soup, which pulled in 3.7 million and 18% over a half hour.

ITV continued to draw big ratings with reality talent show Britain’s Got Talent, which picked up 9.4 million viewers and a 41% share in the hour from 8.05pm. This was down slightly on the 10.3 million and 43% achieved the previous week.

The show, hosted by Ant and Dec, dominated the competition, with the National Lottery show on BBC1 pulling in 4.5 million viewers and a 20% share in the 50 minutes from 8.05pm.

Also at 8.05pm, US hospital drama ER attracted 700,000 viewers and a 3.3% share. It drew an additional 86,000 an hour later on the Channel 4 +1 catch-up service. However, the programme first aired two days previously on digital channel More4.

On BBC1, Doctor Who easily dominated its new earlier timeslot of 6.20pm, with 6.4 million viewers and a 35% share for the 45-minute episode. This was down from 6.9 million the previous week, but up two percentage points in terms of share.

Following Doctor Who on BBC1, talent show I’d Do Anything drew 5.6 million viewers and a 28% share at 7.05pm, down from 6.1 million the previous week. However, the show picked up a 28% share, up seven percentage points from the previous week.

The top performer on Channel Five was CSI: NY at 9.45pm, with an average of 2.6 million viewers and a 13% share.

It was a quiet evening on BBC2, with Have I Got a Bit More News for You attracting the channel’s biggest audience of the evening, with 2.4 million viewers and an 11% share. The Comedy Map of Britain, featuring Johnny Vegas, Rhona Cameron and Doon MacKichan, pulled in 1.5 million viewers and an 8% share in the hour from 9.45pm.

About Pushing Daisies

As its teasers say, Pushing Daisies is "nothing like you've seen on television". Besides being visually stimulating and audibly captivating, the story behind this whimsical TV series from ABC, is one that seems to jump out pages of a fairy tale. Created by Bryan Fuller, Pushing Daisies is hailed by critics as a commendable risk that may actually pay off. It has romance, tragedy, comedy, mystery and of course, lest we forget, pies…lots and lots of it.
