Pushing Daisies UK DVD Release

Lucky Brits! They’ve got first dibs on a Pushing Daisies DVD, which is set for release in the UK (Region 2) this coming June 23rd. And I love its whimsical and colorful cover art design!
Pre-orders are up at most major UK online video stores like Amazon.Co.Uk, Zavvi.Co.Uk (indicated free delivery) and Play.Com (UK). The set comes as a single disc and is selling for £23.00. But I found that HMV.com is selling this way cheaper at £17.99
There’s no word on what comes with the DVD, but the UK version comes way ahead of the Region 1 (USA/Canadian) release.
The DVD is released by Warner Home Videos.
Incidentally, Pushing Daisies Season 1, all 9 episodes of it, will begin airing on ITV in the UK, this April.

Although everyone seems to mention the similarities to Amelie, I loved the fact that at the aunts house in episode one they even had a track from Amelie playing in the background which i thought was a nice touch and almost seemed like they were paying homage to Jeunet be it in a discreet way…fantastic series!!

Hi Ickpepper,
Yeah, that scene surely was an homage…I think it was mentioned in an interview that Bryan Fuller loved Amelie.

How come the Brits get the DVD first if they haven’t even seen it yet??!!

I do not know the answer to that. But what I know is that’s the way it has always been in Britain. I remember during the time when Friends was still airing. They had season DVDs released way ahead. Check their TV DVD catalog at Amazon, you’d see a lot of shows already out on DVD, which aren’t even released to DVDs in America.
